The Monthly Iceberg: It’s Not Over Yet

Howard forteller selv om prosessen med “It’s Not Over Yet”:

Howard_Face_Small“It’s Not Over Yet”—A song about lust and perseverance. “On the ropes” from boxing, when a fighter is beaten up, hurt, on the ropes, but refuses to fall.

Assembled this one over period of 5 years, with a variety of local characters.
Started with rhythm section, Johnny Nichols on bass, Pat Tomek on drums,
Chad Rex and me on acoustic guitars. Added lap steel guitar first, Gary Paredes. Earlier this year finished up with Russian violin virtuoso Grisha Sandomirsky of the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra.

I was going for a male/female call-and-response vibe when I wrote this one. The caller (responder?) is Rebecca Liberty. She comes to a lotta local shows but never played or sang out before. When she approached me and told me she hoped to someday, I asked her to take a shot on this one, and glad I did.
